Keio 4th year---

The Battle of Toba-Fushimi, which occurred early in the new year, ended in a unilateral victory for the Satsuma-Choshu allied forces, and the defeated Shogunate army returned to Edo.
The Shinsengumi, which had participated in the war, also returned to Edo.
The defeat of the Shogunate and the rout of the Shogun had a great impact on the members of the Shinsengumi; in addition, Kondo was shot, Okita contracted tuberculosis, and the troop was shaken up.
Meanwhile, the Shinsengumi is given the opportunity by the shogunate to rename themselves as the Koyo Chinpu-tai and move out to protect Kofu.
